LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA
In what has become somewhat of a fiery rivalry in recent years, Antonio Conte takes his Chelsea team to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team.
After recovering from what was a rocky start to the season, Conte has steadied the ship thanks to consistent play from a burgeoning partnership between Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata.
On the attacking side of the ball, Liverpool have been sensational thanks in part to the immaculate play from summer singing Mohamed Salah leading the league in scoring. But on the other side of the ball, the same problems still remain for the Reds.
After what people were considering a crisis at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have been keeping pace with the Manchester sides throughout the first 12 games of the season.
Morata has been fantastic in the opening 12 games not only scoring eight goals but also registering four assists becoming the focal point that the Blues have needed.
His partnership with Eden Hazard is proving very fruitful with the two almost forming a telepathic understanding. The defence has also stepped up conceding less than one goal a game with just 10.
On the other side, attacking has never been a problem for Liverpool, it has always been stopping the ball from going in at the other end that has been the problem.
That formula has continued this season with Liverpool having the highest scorer in the league in Mohamed Salah and are the 3rd highest scoring team in the league.
However their defence has been leaky at best and only six teams in the league have conceded more than their 17 goals and they’ll have their work cut out for them if they are to shut out this Chelsea team.
SCORE PREDICTION: Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea – Coutinho to score first.
HUDDERSFIELD VS MANCHESTER CITY
The runaway trailblazers this season are without a doubt Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team. After finally creating the team that he wanted thanks to this summer’s acquisitions, the Citizens are playing unbelievable football and look to only be realising the start of their gargantuan potential.
From back to front, each man is playing their best football and it’s showing in the end results as City already have 40 goals on the season. Huddersfield are having a respectable season and are sitting 10th in the table but are coming off a 4-0 humbling at the hands of Bournemouth whether they can keep City out will be interesting to see.
The superlatives to describe this juggernaut that is Manchester City are running dry.
The front 5 of Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are playing football that some could only imagine playing on FIFA. The quick interplay, the triangle exchanges and the slick passing have been features of the City game this whole season and doesn’t look letting up any time soon. Not to mention that Sergio Aguero has been used sparingly this season and still has eight goals to his name with only Mohamed Salah having more.
To be brutally honest, you would be hard-pressed to find a neutral supporter that will pick Huddersfield for this game.
Other than the two bottom players in the league, Huddersfield have a league low in goals with eight and they’re coming up against a team that has only conceded seven times this season. John Stones won’t be in the team after picking up a hamstring injury last week but City will still feel comfortable about picking up the three points here.
SCORE PREDICTION: Huddersfield 0-3 Man City – Jesus to score first.
BURNLEY VS ARSENAL
Fresh off their inspired performance in the north London derby, Arsenal travel to Turf Moor to take on a Burnley side that have been in inspired form themselves.
The Gunners are only one point off the Champions League places after that win but look one space down the table sitting on the same number of points is Burnley. Having only conceded nine goals in the campaign, any Arsenal fan that thinks that they’re going to just waltz in and take the three points easily are sadly mistaken.
The Gunners are looking to continue their fine recent form and this is one of those banana fixtures that they have slipped up on in the past.
In this same fixture last season, Arsenal only scraped a 1-0 victory courtesy of a contentious late winner from Laurent Koscielny. Questions have been posed as to whether Arsenal can replicate the intensity that they showed against Tottenham against a so called ‘lesser’ team. This is a game where they show if that performance was a flash in the pan or if they can make it a consistent theme to their season.
Sean Dyche is making an early case for being coach of the year having his Burnley team in the European places.
Burnley have always been regarded as a hardnosed team that will make any game difficult for you with their well coached defence. Having already taken points from Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton this season, Arsene Wenger will be wise to get his men well prepared for the difficult task they will be facing on Sunday.
SCORE PREDICTION: Burnley 1-2 Arsenal – Ramsey to score first.
