Arsenal bounced back from their disappointing result at Watford with a dominant win at Goodison Park.

(EVERTON 2 - 5 ARSENAL) Everton were already under immense pressure after having such a poor start to the season and it showed early on. From the first whistle, the Everton defence looked jittery and nervous, and Arsenal took full advantage. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Gunners though as against the run of play, Wayne Rooney whipped in an effort from 20 yards out that was reminiscent of his goal against Arsenal when he was 16 years old.

Arsenal had been completely dominant for the whole half and they got their reward and the stroke of half time as Granit Xhaka’s effort was saved into the air from Pickford and Monreal dispatched a beautiful volley to shift the momentum back in Arsenal’s favour.

After the break, Arsenal made their dominance pay and took complete control of the game. Arsenal took the lead on the 53rd minute from a devastating counter. The front three combined as Lacazette fed Sanchez on the left hand side and he dinked in a wonderful cross for Ozil to score the header.

As if there task wasn’t hard enough, Idrissa Gueye picked up a second yellow card for a late tackle on Xhaka and was sent off. Arsenal made their man advantage count as Ozil fed Lacazette to sweep home his first away goal and Ramsey added the fourth finishing nicely from a Jack Wilshere through ball.

A defensive calamity between Monreal and Cech handed Niasse a consolation goal but Sanchez put the gloss on the score with a fine individual effort, running across the 18 yard and finishing from a seemingly impossible angle.

(TOTTENHAM 4 - 1 LIVERPOOL) In the second game of the day, Liverpool displayed a lacklustre performance that was the antithesis to how Tottenham played. Pochettino has his men playing some wonderful football and there was more of that displayed during the game. Harry Kane continued his fine form as he scored the opener on the 4th minute.

A crowd of Liverpool players couldn’t stop Trippier dinking a ball over the top for Kane to run on to, Mignolet rushed out of the goal but was nowhere near the ball as Kane kept his composure to stick the ball in the empty net.

Spurs didn’t have to wait long for their second of the game and it was another defensive disaster. Lloris released Kane with a long ball that Dejan Lovren failed to intercept and Kane was off to the races, he had Son steaming down the pitch on his left and he played a delightful ball and Son applied the calm finish.

Liverpool found a way back into the game through Mohamed Salah’s scuffed finish and it looked like they were in the ascendency before some more elementary defending gifted Tottenham their third. A floated free kick was headed timidly clearance by Joel Matip and Dele Alli applied the volleyed finish to give Tottenham the 3-1 lead at half-time.

The second half didn’t have the same vigour to it as Tottenham dialled back the attacking intent after they put the game out of doubt with Kane’s second. A defensive scramble in the box left Kane unmarked in the 6 yard box to score an easy goal. Some shine was taken off the result as Kane was replaced late in the game with what looked to be a hamstring injury but nevertheless, this was an exceptional performances from Tottenham and an equally naive one from Liverpool.
