Athletics: Elaine Thompson, Fedrick Dacres & Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Head Jamaica’s Athletics World Cup Team

The Athletics World Cup is between the worlds top 8 nations

Double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson heads Jamaica’s 40-member to this year’s inaugural staging of Athletics World Cup, which will be in London from July 14 – 15.

Jamaica’s team also includes Olympic sprint champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles champion Janieve Russell and Olympic Games 400m bronze medallist Shericka Jackson.

In fact, Thompson, who recently retained her 100m title at the National Senior Championships last month, will compete in the 100m. She will be joined by Fraser-Pryce, Jackson and Jonielle Smith, as members of Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team.

National champion Stephenie-Ann McPherson is down to compete in the 400m, while Jackson is down to run in the 200m.

Meanwhile, freshly-minted national 100m champion Tyquendo Tracey and Fedrick Dacres head the country’s male team.

The team also includes Commonwealth Games 110m hurdles champion Ronald Levy and Kemoy Campbell.

The Athletics World Cup is a team-based international competition featuring eight of the world’s top track and field nations.
