Eddie Hearn insists Dillian Whyte could take legal action towards WBC

There can be no Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder trilogy

Eddie Hearn has insisted that there cannot be a trilogy fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said there is a rematch clause for whoever loses in the highly anticipated rematch later this year.

But Eddie Hearn is adamant that a third fight between ‘Gypsy King’ and the ‘Bronze Bomber’ cannot go ahead and legal action could be taken.

Dillian Whyte is to fight Oscar Rivas for the WBC interim belt on July 20 and the winner would be the mandatory challenger for whoever comes out on top between Wilder and Fury.

That would prevent third fight between the pair from taking place straight after the second.

Hearn told iFL TV: ‘It’s not allowed – there’s gonna be a serious legal position for Dillian Whyte if that’s the case.

‘Because Dillian Whyte is fighting Oscar Rivas, that’s for the ‘interim’ title and the mandatory position, but we want it next.

‘The offer from the WBC is for the ‘interim’ title and mandatory position, it’s when that mandatory occurs.

‘There will be serious issues if that mandatory is not when we want that mandatory to be. It’s ongoing.’

Hearn went on to add: ‘Deontay Wilder must fight Dillian Whyte, and I say to the people out there – keep supporting Dillian Whyte.

‘He has been number one for 580 days and he still isn’t mandatory and we’ve got to make sure he gets what he deserves.’

The British heavyweight has become the forgotten man of the division with Anthony Joshua, Wilder and Fury claiming all the limelight.

But if he can find a way past the dangerous Rivas, then there are massive fights in the pipeline.
