England World Cup winner Ademola Lookman wants to play for Nigeria

Nigerian media outlet claims Everton winger will switch international allegiance

Under-20 World Cup winner Ademola Lookman is about to declare his allegiance to the Super Eagles, the country of his parents according to website Pulse.ng .

London-born, Lookman has made 27 appearances for various England teams - including that 2017 World Cup final when England beat Venezuela - and has long been targeted by the Nigerian FA.

But after turning down the Super Eagles following a meeting with Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick earlier this year, Pulse claims that Lookman has changed his mind and is poised to announce his decision.

The Pulse Sports source claimed: "An announcement will be made soon, I’m close to his management and they have confirmed that he has made the decision."

Lookman was called up by Aidy Boothroyd last week for England’s Under-21 side for the Euro 2019 qualifiers but was not in the matchday squad.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in the summer for the first time in Cameroon, after the CAF Executive Committee moved the tournament from its traditional January/February schedule.
