Daniel Jacobs was inspired from what he saw from Manny Pacquiao in his fight with Adrien Broner on Saturday night.
All things considered, Jacobs sees IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. as a problem for Pacquiao if the two decides to face each other.
Jacobs considered Spence a more elite classier welterweight than the fighters that Pacquiao has been beating as of late.
“A guy like Errol Spence or a guy like Floyd Mayweather, they’re top echelon,” Jacobs said to Fino Boxing when asked about Pacquiao fighting Spence or Mayweather.
“We don’t know yet, but we do know that Pacquiao lost to Mayweather, and that’s about as high as it gets for him [Pacquiao]. I see him against a guy like Spence; it’s a little tricky. It would be interesting to see it if it happens,” Jacobs said.
There are other fights waiting if Pacquiao decides not to fight Spence, such as the likes of Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter or Danny Garcia. br />
If Pacquiao does decide to face Spence and loses to him it still wouldnt be considered a bad thing. Pacquiao would make a great deal of cash fighting Spence, and there would be less of an aftermath from at this current moment.
Pacquiao will not have to stress excessively over Mayweather. He appears as though he's in an incredible phase where he's rich, and content in his retirement. The 41-year-old Mayweather claimed he no interest in facing Pacquiao in a rematch. Mayweather was at ringside for a reason during the fight where he watch ex stable mate Adrian Broner lose.
“Manny still has a lot in his tank, and I’m glad to see him perform,” Jacobs said. “I hated to see Adrien lose, but I want to see him come back and show us the old Adrien that he showed us before. But much respect to Pacquiao for stepping in there and calling out these top guys and performing. He already has a legacy, but he wants to add onto that amazing legacy,” Jacobs said.
Pacquiao wants the Mayweather bout, however if this dont happen, he will battle one of the big names at 147, be it Spence, Keith 'One Time' Thurman or Shawn Porter. For now Pacquiao likely won't battle is WBO champion Terence Crawford. He's with Pacquiao's old promotors at Top Rank Boxing, and they don't do much business with Premier Boxing Champions, who as of now is dealing with Pacquiao's profession right now.
