"Pau Gasol is one of the best sportsmen we’ve had in Spain in the past 50 years"

Coming off a 4-0 victory over Qarabag in the Champions League last night, Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas took on Crystal Palace’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah for a place in the semi-final of the NBA Celebrity Gaming Tournament, featuring the globally renowned NBA 2K18 game. Fabregas played as the Boston Celtics, who will feature in the NBA London Game 2018 in January when they take on the Philadelphia 76ers at The O2, whilst Crystal Palace’s Fosu-Mensah chose to play as the Houston Rockets.

Fabregas, whose goal last night helped Chelsea book their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League for the 14th time in their last 15 appearances in the competition, became the fourth Spanish player to hit the 20-goal mark in the Champions League.

Following his game against Fosu-Mensah, Fabregas talked about Spanish NBA stars Pau and Marc Gasol and what their NBA careers mean to him, defining Pau Gasol as “one of the best sportsmen we’ve had in the last 50 years at least in Spain.”

Fabregas then gave his view on comparisons between the NBA and the Premier League, before talking about his favourite NBA player, the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry, whom he described as “…a real leader, he always delivers when the team needs him and he shines on big occasions. He’s also not afraid to make mistakes and this is probably what I like the most about him.”
