The winger will now take on either Shkodran Mustafi or Manuel Lanzini in the semifinal

The third quarter-final of the NBA2K19 Gaming Tournament saw England and Bath rugby star Anthony Watson take on Watford forward Gerard Deulofeu.

Watson opted to play as the Houston Rockets, led by 2017-18 MVP James Harden, whilst Deulofeu selected the Toronto Raptors, hoping to take advantage of their dynamic star Kawhi Leonard.

Deulofeu got off to a strong start and was leading the contest from the outset. The Spanish star was up by as many as nine points as the game reached the third quarter. The 15-6 score line prompted a stirring comeback by Watson, who nailed a three-pointer with Harden. The third quarter came to end with a jam from Watson with only 0.6 left in the quarter, making it a three point game.

Watson and Houston drew level on 21 apiece with a dunk from Clint Capela with only 46 seconds left on the clock. The game couldn't be decided in regulation with tie of 23-23 at the final buzzer.

In overtime, Watson took over with a couple of breakaway buckets which proved difficult for Deulofeu to deal with, eventually triumphing 33-27 to take his place in the semifinal, where he will face either Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi or West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini.

After the game Watson said: "I was happy [with my performance] but this guy [Deulofeu] hustled me [...] he knows what he's doing."

Deulofeu was magnanimous in defeat, saying: "This guy [Watson] is very good. He plays too much!"
