Mo Farah pulls out of Half Marathon in Doha and Eilish McColgan impresses

Gemma Steel, Chris Thompson and Eilish McColgan impress in Doha


Eilish McColgan won the 10k at the Ooredoo Marathon event in Doha with a personal best time of 31.53 minutes.

The 27-year-old Scottish athlete finished ahead of Rosie Brookes, Michelle Grainger and Nicola Milan.

Mo Farah was due to run in the half-marathon later but pulled out with an Achilles issue whists Gemma Steel and Chris Thompson claim half-marathon podium places.

Steel who has also been training in Doha, with coach Liz McColgan-Nuttall, clocked 72mins and 37 seconds for the runner-up spot in a women’s half-marathon which was won by USA’s Allie Kieffer.

Thompson finished third clocking 63min and 03 seconds behind Kenya’s Alex Kibet.
