Athletics: Fraser-Pryce mentally ready to battle for World Championship Gold

Shelly Ann runs to inspire all females around the world

Double Olympic Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, 32, has her sight firmly on gold at the World Championships in Doha later this year.

After winning the Anniversary games in London, beating local favourite and European champion Dina Asher-Smith over the 100m in 10.78s, Fraser-Pryce said she thanks God for being back on the track and in the form she is in.

“I am glad to come out with the win and to come out healthy, and I am looking forward to running in Pan Ams next. It is testimony to the fact that hard work pays off,” Fraser-Pryce said.

“The aim is to make sure when I get to Doha that I’m on point. Right now the females are so close in terms of time so you definitely just have to come out and make sure that you’re ready to run.”

Speaking in a recent interview with Nuffin’ Long Athletics, Fraser-Pryce said she was happy to inspire others who may have had setbacks and thanks her coach for giving her the belief she can get back to her best.

She also stated that being a mother on track can be mentally draining but this dose not deter her from being ready for the World Championships later this year.
