DeGale and Lee Selby to defend IBF belts in December on a Frank Warren bill.
IBF super-middleweight world champion James DeGale and IBF featherweight world champion Lee Selby to fight at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday December 9.
Degale hasn’t fought in the UK since he defended his title and Knocked out Marco Antonio Periban on November 2014.
“To be defending my World Title in my home city is a dream come true,” said DeGale. “I have made my name as a road warrior but now it is time to remind everyone at home who the best Super-Middleweight in the World is.
“I haven’t showcased my skills in the UK since 2014 and I’m looking forward to putting on a memorable performance for the people of London and everyone tuning in at home on BT Sport and BoxNation.”

Both fighters will be defending their IBF titles, but have one eye on bigger and better fights in 2018 if they come through December 9th unscathed.
DeGale has a potential match up with the winner of the World Boxing Super Series, which will if all goes well set up a battle of Britain as 3 of the 4 fighters left have world titles.
“I’m recognised number one super middleweight in the world, but I have to prove it” said DeGale. “I want big fights, obviously the winner of the Super 8. “
“I’m in a win-win it’s either Groves (George) , Eubank (Chris) or Smith (Callum).”

Lee Selby says “I will definitely be fighting my mandatory challenger Josh Warrington after I come through this fight.“
Warrington is a Frank Warren fighter but has been calling out Lee Selby for a while. Selby whose mother passed away earlier this year says he is ready to fight anyone.
At the Frank Warren press conference in London, both fighters said they would like best fights, with Degale targeting the winner of the World Super Boxing Series and Selby looking to silence Josh Warrington.
When speaking on Warrington, Selby said “To me he is just another opponent, but I think he’s got emotionally attached to me.”
“I will give him an educated lesson and then move on!”
Frank Warren remains upbeat in helping DeGale and Selby achieve their goals despite both fighters being tied to other advisors. Warren reminded us that he has helped fighters for years and will continue to do so.
Frank warren said “Selby is a class operator and should he come through this fight, we will be looking to make the long-awaited fight with Josh in 2018. Rising stars Anthony Yarde and Daniel Dubois will also feature on this unmissable card and I know fans will be in for a real treat.”
Warren said he is here to invest and give the British public what they want.
If this is the case we will be in for a cracking 2018, especially if he gets world title fights for Light heavyweight prospect Anthony Yarde and his other stablemate heavyweight Daniel Dubois who Warren says is the best heavyweight boxer he’s ever seen for his age.
